Wasilla musher Marrs is given grant by Iditarod

Anchorage Daily News sports@adn.com Last Modified: June 20th, 2008 01:53 AM Young Wasilla musher Wade Marrs has been awarded the Seppala Heritage Grant by the Iditarod Trail Committee. Marrs, 18, is expected to sign up for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race next March. He will earn $10,000 for winning the award after he completes two Iditarod qualifying races. Marrs won the humanitarian award while finishing fourth in the Junior Iditarod this winter. Jessica Klejka, 17, of Bethel, won that race. The Seppala Heritage Grant is designed to help mushers who aspire to run the Iditarod for the first time.
