2 to represent Md. in auto competition

Two students from Eastern Technical High School in Essex will represent Maryland on Tuesday in the national finals of the 59th Annual Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills competition in Dearborn, Mich. Juniors Zachary Bryant and Cory Zamenski, both automotive students at the high school, defeated teams from nearly 60 other high school automotive programs in the state to advance to the national competition. According to their instructor, Eldridge Watts, their accomplishment was impressive because they were juniors competing against seniors who had an extra year of automotive experience in the classroom. "If there ever was a definition of a wunderkind, these two kids are it," Watts said. For winning the state championship, each student was awarded almost $75,000 in scholarship money, Watts said.
