Zhongpin resumes production at Deyang plant

NEW YORK (AP) - Chinese meat processor Zhongpin Inc. said Monday it resumed production at its Deyang plant in the Sichuan Province following last month's earthquake. The company said the facility has resumed 80 percent of the utilization level prior to the May 12 quake, which killed nearly 70,000 people. There was no loss of life at the plant, but there was damage to the workshops and equipment, the company said. During the recovery period, Zhongpin said it continued to supply to customers under contract with the Deyang plant through its production facility in Zhumadian in the Henan Province.
