BY HANK GOLA DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER SAN DIEGO - Big Brown couldn't lose. Andrew Svoboda wasn't even supposed to play. Sometimes, weird things happen. Svoboda, the 28-year-old pro from Larchmont, was preparing Friday night for 36 more holes at the U.S. Open after an even-par 71 got him inside the cut line at 6-over Friday. That in itself is pretty amazing when you consider it wasn't until Thursday at 11 a.m. that Svoboda, who came to Torrey Pines as the second alternate, knew he was in the field. Somehow, he tackled the toughest setup of the year without having played a practice hole, with a new driver, putter, hybrid and wedges. It gets better.
