Kiev - Rescuers said chances were practically gone of finding alive any of 12 people unaccounted for after a Ukrainian coal mine blast, Fakty newspaper reported Wednesday. The Monday methane gas explosion in the eastern Donetsk region is known to have killed at least one miner, and very likely three more died in the apparent accident, officials said. The last survivor was found Tuesday afternoon. An unprecedented rescue effort in tunnels near the village of Enakievo so far has brought 24 miners to the surface. The detonation took place minutes after air sensors detected a sudden and as yet-unexplained increase in methane gas concentrations in the main shaft, said Andrian Halach, a government spokesman.
