A migraine headache is often disabling with associated symptoms such as flashes of light, visual blind spots and tingling in the arms or legs. In some cases, these disabling headaches are accompanied or preceded with an "Aura" which is a sensory warning signal. Other possible symptoms include nausea and vomiting, extreme sensitivity to light (photophobia) and extreme sensitivity to sound. The pain of a migraine headache could be excruciating enough to incapacitate a sufferer for hours or even days. Migraines can begin in childhood, adolescence or early adulthood and attacks usually become less frequent and intense as the individual gets older.
