Prague- The Czech Republic today sent the first 20 members of a contingent to Afghanistan that will protect the Dutch military base in the province Uruzgan. Along with them, a one-year-old boy and a six-year-old Afghan girl that underwent heart surgeries within the humanitarian programme Medevac were flown to Afghanistan. The Czech unit in Uruzgan is composed of the soldiers from the Liberec 31st radiation, chemical and biological warfare brigade. The contingent will have 63 soldiers. According to contingent commander Miroslav Brazda, Uruzgan, Kandahar and Helmand are the three Afghan provinces that are most threatened by militants' attacks.
