POLICE probing the cold-blooded murder of a Victorian couple more than 20 years ago are investigating links to present-day underworld figures. A 63-year-old man was arrested this morning by cold case detectives investigating the murders of Ramon and Dorothy Abbey, who were shot in the back of the head in their West Heidelberg home, in Melbourne's north, in 1987. Detective Superintendent Jack Blayney said charges were expected to be laid today, but refused to confirm or deny that the case was drug-related or directly linked to recent developments involving Tony Mokbel. "Obviously it's quite historical in regards to 20 years but we have got some evidence to show that there's a common link between present day and the past," Det Supt Blayney said.
