Cayman Islands are heaven in Hell

By DAMIAN TULLY-POINTON - Monday, October 26, 2009 Grand Cayman: Divers can kiss a stingray while sun-worshippers savour the laid-back lifestyle on the largest of the three Cayman Islands 'Hell' was the last word I expected to say while in the Cayman Islands, let alone visit the place. Yet here I am, in a town called Hell, composing an 'I've been to Hell and back' postcard, which will be postmarked 'Hell'. I mean, who could resist? 'It's a hell of a sight, isn't it,' remarks Ivan the horned shopkeeper as I scan the decidedly evil-looking landscape behind his hot-red post office-cum-giftshop. Forged out of eroded, algae-blackened limestone, the jagged vista is what earned the spot, found on Hell Road (naturally) in Grand Cayman's West Bay, its name.
