But Clooney, Richard Gere, Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell provide the male muscle on Rome’s red carpet for the festival, which started Thursday and runs through to Friday. “The thread running through the festival will be the central role of women in contemporary cinema,” said festival director Piera Detassis.
