As the son and nephew of football coaches, Steve Hauser knew what Wesleyan needed: some big plays on offense. More important, he was in a position to provide them. Hauser had three touchdown receptions to help Wesleyan rally from a 14-0 deficit for a 28-20 victory over Bates Saturday at Andrus Field in Middletown. Hauser's leaping catch as he dragged his feet at the left pylon on a 4-yard pass from Blake DuBois and Matt Alexander's kick gave Wesleyan (2-2) a 21-20 lead with 2:51 left in the third quarter and were the Cardinals' first points in the second half this season.
