This page lists every KNOWN recording of the great Danish Heldentenor Lauritz Melchior in live performance, either on the stage, or on radio or TV. It is quite possible that future live recordings of Melchior, especially in the 1950s, will emerge from private collectors. Considering that Tristan was Melchior's most performed role, and the one for which he was famous, it is fitting that there are no less than 14 complete recordings of him in the role. In addition there are numerous complete acts or extracts from the opera which survive. Of his other Wagnerian roles Lohengrin (with 8 complete recordings), Walkure (6), and Tannhauser (5), are the best documented.
