We'll follow the old man wherever he wants to go As long as he wants to go opposite to the foe We'll follow the old man wherever he wants to stay As long as he stays away from the battle fray Because we love him, we love him Especially when he keeps us on the ball And we'll tell the kiddies we answered duty's call With the grandest son of a soldier of them all Take Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby , mix in a bunch of Irving Berlin tunes, and throw in a light, but solid, plot to put them all together. That's more or less what this film is. The plot is worth noting, though. The two leads play Wallace and Davis, two singers who meet up as they fight in World War Two (they weren't big enough to be considered more valuable on USO tours or selling war bonds).
