Oct 15 2009 Glamorgan Gazette A SUB-POSTMASTER stole more than £51,000 from Royal Mail to bolster his struggling business. Michael William Brown, who ran Cefn Glas Post Office in Llangewydd Road, Bridgend, took cash from the Post Office Ltd float and put it into the cash point. He would get commission from the ATM as it charged customers a fee. Brown, 64, of Penllyn, admitted the thefts and was given a suspended prison sentence. Cardiff Crown Court heard the offences took place between November 2007 and September 2008. Richard Cole, prosecuting, said borrowing money from Royal Mail was against company policy. He said Brown had also taken money to pay for general running costs at the post office, where he had been since May 1997.
