Casey at the park

Att: 37,618 Casey Kelly was at the park last night, and the Red Sox could have used him. The team’s first-round pick in the 2008 draft can both pitch and field, just the opposite of Takashi Saito, who could not do either in the seventh inning. Kelly, the Sox’s 21st century version of Babe Ruth, was honored as the farm system’s Pitcher of the Year, even though he played the second half of the season at shortstop. He can do either, or at least has in the minors, and figures that next year he will have to make up his mind. “I’ll do whatever’s in my heart,” he said during an interview. “This year was eye-opening, playing both, but I don’t think it helped either side.
