Canwest News ServiceSeptember 10, 2009 4:16 PM Photograph by: Chris Schwarz, Edmonton Journal Former Edmonton Oilers head coach Craig MacTavish will guide Team Canada at the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland, from Dec. 26-31, Hockey Canada announced Thursday. MacTavish was named Oilers coach in 2000 and led the team to the Stanley Cup final in 2006. He was let go in the spring, after the Oilers missed the playoffs for a third consecutive season. He has also spent time as an assistant coach with the New York Rangers (1997-99). MacTavish played 1,093 games in the NHL with Boston, Edmonton, the Rangers, Philadelphia and St. Louis. MacTavish served as an assistant coach with Canada at the 2008 and 2005 IIHF world championships, winning silver both years. He was also an assistant coach when Canada won bronze at the 2004 Loto Cup....
