Tour de France: Mark Cavendish sets sights on green jersey

Jul 4 2009 Ed Casey MARK CAVENDISH has already equalled the record as Britain's most successful road racer - now he aims to prove he's the best ever. The Manxman will get the chance to claim that position in this year's Tour de France, which starts today in Monaco and finishes on July 26 in Paris. Spain's Alberto Contador is the favourite for overall victory in the 96th edition of cycling's showpiece event but Cavendish is widely tipped to win the battle for the Green Jersey. The Douglas-born 24-year-old enters his third Tour de France equal with Chris Boardman as Britain's most successful road racer on 41 victories.
