The 15.5-kilometer individual time trial through the narrow streets of Monte Carlo was pretty much the circuit raced by Formula One drivers in the Grand Prix. Cancellara, who had been predicted to win, covered the technically complex course in 19 minutes and 32 seconds, 18 seconds ahead of second-place finisher and race favorite, Alberto Contador of Spain.
