Associated Press - July 4, 2009 11:53 AM ET KABUL (AP) - Two American troops are dead and several more injured after Taliban militants fired rockets and mortars at a U.S. base in eastern Afghanistan. During the battle, a suicide bomber charged the base's gates. The truck blew up after American troops fired on it. The fighting, which left 30 militants dead, ended only after U.S. forces called in airstrikes. BAGHDAD (AP) - Vice President Joe Biden spent his Fourth of July lunching with his son and other U.S. troops serving in Iraq.
