STUDENTS as young as 10 will use iPods in the classroom as an Adelaide school embraces the technology as a valuable education aid. Seaford 6-12 School is buying 200 iPod Touches for students in Years 6, 7, and 8 at a cost of about $60,000. The wifi internet-enabled devices, which are normally used for entertainment purposes, will be used as educational tools in place of laptop computers. While the iPods remain school equipment, students have the option to buy their own. Parents, teachers and students have welcomed the plan, but child-development experts are concerned, saying it could lead to an increase in cyber bullying and "sexting".
