MLB: Twins Slowey placed on DL after bad start

The Denver Post and wire services MINNESOTA — Twins right-hander Kevin Slowey was placed on the 15-day disabled list late Friday with a strained wrist following his start against the Detroit Tigers. Slowey, who was trying to become the majors' first 11-game winner, gave up a season-worst six runs on five hits in three innings in Minnesota's 11-9 loss in 16 innings on Friday night. Slowey (10-3) will be replaced in the rotation by Anthony Swarzak, who was called up from Triple-A Rochester. Footnotes.
