The Red Mile presented a plan for mixed-use development of some of its property at a public meeting in Lexington, Ky. on Tuesday evening (June 30). The concept calls for turning 68 of the track's 132 acres into 150 to 200 residential condominiums, 300,000 square feet of retail and office space and a hiking trail along Red Mile Road. The racetrack, grandstand, barns and the Floral Hall would all be preserved. The plan calls for some stabling to be located on the grounds of the Tattersalls Sale barn, which adjoins the track, answering the concerns expressed by some horsemen.
