Brad Paisley gets personal on new 'Saturday Night'

By Cindy Watts • THE TENNESSEAN • June 30, 2009 When Brad Paisley was a little boy, he stole his grandpa's brand new pack of cigarettes, sat down at the table and broke them all in half. His grandpa refused to quit, so he decided to help him out. "I was mad and didn't want him to smoke," says the country singer. "He never quit. He smoked to the end." Paisley didn't get in trouble, but he does remember his grandpa, Warren Jarvis, smoking those pieces. Jarvis died of pancreatic cancer when Paisley was in his teens, but the singer says he caught a glimpse of Jarvis when his 2-year-old son Huck was born. Huck has Jarvis' ears. "I was like, 'There they are again. He's back,' " Paisley recalls. "There's just something so important about that."
