Warrior spirit thrills Noble

Published Date: 29 June 2009 Wigan coach Brian Noble hailed his side for ending a turbulent fortnight by rediscovering the winning formula. The Warriors brushed aside the negativity of speculation over Noble's future, second-row Gareth Hock's positive drugs test and a defeat to bottom side Celtic Crusaders to come from behind and beat Hull KR 36-28 on Sunday. Asked if he thought the off-field distractions had affected his side, Noble said: "Of course, it was national headlines for goodness' sake, so you can't hide the players from it. So you have to find a formula and they found a formula." He added: "The only way we'll be judged on writing this 2009 chapter for Wigan is through our performances on the field, and I think we took some huge steps in making people realise we aren't going to go away."
