Team has picks in first three rounds for first time since '05 BY GEORGE SIPPLE • FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER • June 26, 2009 The Red Wings enter today's NHL entry draft with picks in each of the first three rounds for the first time since 2005. This year's draft, held in Montreal, is expected to be one of the deepest in years, making it more important that the Wings have all their available picks in the early rounds. "It just gives you flexibility to do a little bit more, which is important," said Wings assistant general manager Jim Nill. The only round the Wings don't have a pick is the fourth. That pick went to the Los Angeles Kings in the trade that landed the Wings defenseman Brad Stuart.
