Dance show makes festival history

Richard Winsor plays Dorian Gray in Matthew Bourne's dance show A show directed by one of the UK's most successful choreographers has become the Edinburgh International Festival's best selling dance event ever. Matthew Bourne's Dorian Gray has already sold 11,212 tickets for its world premiere at the festival. The show has broken the festival's previous record of 10,146 tickets for Mark Morris's Hard Nut in 1995. The production opens at the King's Theatre on Friday and runs for 10 performances until 30 August. With 10 days of booking left until the last performance of Dorian Gray, total sales could reach the season capacity of 13,000 seats, an increase of nearly 30% on the previous record.
