Cyclist dies in Itchen Bridge collision

A 60-YEAR-OLD male cyclist died last night after a collision with a car on the Itchen Bridge in Southampton. A second person is fighting for their life after the collision that involved two cyclists and a dark Peugeot car. The accident happened at 8.53pm, closing the bridge in both directions for several hours. The injured people were taken to Southampton General Hospital. In addition to the person with life-threatening injuries - the car driver, a 37-year-old man, was admitted with chest pains and breathing difficulties. The rear-seat passenger, a 19-year-old man, was suffering chest pains and breathing difficulties and a 34-year-old woman suffered facial and chest injuries. Police are appealing for witnesses.
