Royals add veteran Kip Wells to help bullpen

Wells was the Colorado Rockies Opening Day starter this year He is expected to work out of the bullpen for the Royals, his sixth team KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Kansas City Royals signed free-agent pitcher Kip Wells on Tuesday. The 31-year-old Wells started the season as the Colorado Rockies' opening day starter, but was eventually demoted to the bullpen. The Rockies designated Wells for assignment last week.
