Jane Archer finds lectures and treks replace evening entertainment on an iceberg-spotting voyage along the Greenland coast. It's 8.30am and anyone who is still asleep has just been woken by this morning's announcement. A polite good morning, news that it is two degrees Centigrade outside, taking into account the wind speed, and a reminder that the lectures are due to start in an hour. And then the message is repeated in Danish and German. Not than anyone is in bed.
