Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The Carolina League announced today that Pelicans catcher Tyler Flowers was named the Carolina League Player of the Week and Pelicans reliever Jaye Chapman was named Pitcher of the Week, for the week of August 4th through August 10th. The Pelicans now lead the Carolina League in weekly awards with eight. Flowers' week started with the rare opportunity to catch future Hall-of-Famer Tom Glavine, who was making a rehabilitation start for the Pelicans. Flowers, who received glowing praise from Glavine following his start, went 2-3 with three runs scored and five RBIs. He also belted two home runs.
