Toronto residents sues city, province, propane company over blasts

Canwest News Service Published:Â Wednesday, August 13, 2008 TORONTO - Residents living near the site of a massive propane plant explosion have launched a $300 million class-action lawsuit against the gas facility and the City of Toronto. The notice of action also will include the province of Ontario and the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, which are responsible for licensing the Sunrise Propane Energy Group Inc., supervising it and ensuring the "safety of the local populace, local property and the environment," according to a website that provides general information about the lawsuit to potential class members.
