Lyon remains favorite for 8th straight title

After seven years of watching Lyon monopolize the French league title, even main rivals Marseille and Bordeaux have a hard time seeing an end to that streak this season. "Lyon is still above the rest of the pack," Marseille striker Mamadou Niang said ahead of this weekend's first round of games. Lyon starts its quest for an eighth straight title by hosting Toulouse on Sunday, while Marseille visits Rennes and Bordeaux faces Caen on Saturday. While Lyon has lost Hatem Ben Arfa to Marseille — along with several other offseason departures — the club remains a firm favorite to continue its domination of French football.
