gOS, the Linux OS which has powered the $199 Wal-Mart PC and assorted netbooks, announced its latest version, which the company calls gOS3 Gadgets. In this context, the gOS name seems a bit misleading, as the new OS launches Google Gadgets for Linux immediately upon startup. Users are given access to about 100,000 Google Gadgets -- but the widgets, small helper applications that can perform a number of small tasks, are from Google, and not gOS. The software is being classified as a beta (a Google beta?
