Everton boss David Moyes hopes to cushion the shattering blow of the club's proposed new stadium being delayed by Government intervention by spending in the transfer market. The completion on Thursday of the sale of Andrew Johnson to Fulham will give Moyes immediate cash. The Johnson deal saw Everton receive around £10million ($21.5 million) up front, with the fee likely to rise to £13million ($27.9 million) on appearances. That transfer was concluded just hours after the Goodison Park club had been rocked by the Government decision to call in the plans for Everton's new stadium in neighbouring Kirkby for further examination.
