Kuznetsova given tough first round task

Svetlana Kuznetsova was handed potentially the toughest task of the top seeds in the first round of the women’s singles event at the 2008 Olympic Tennis Event in Beijing at today’s draw. The third-seeded Russian was drawn to play Li Na, who although currently ranked No. 43, largely due to inactivity due to a recent knee injury, has been ranked as high as No. 16 in the past, and will enjoy huge home support. Top seed Ana Ivanovic and her compatriot Jelena Jankovic, who is seeded No. 2, were given seemingly straightforward first-round tasks against Marina Korytsseva and Cara Black respectively.
