Ponson gets revenge, Yanks defeat Texas

(Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images / August 6, 2008) ARLINGTON, Texas - The Rangers didn't have to see Sidney Ponson in action Wednesday night to know he could be successful pitching at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Ponson did just fine pitching for the Rangers in Arlington, but they released him because they believed he was disrupting their team unity. Picked up by the Yankees in June, Ponson beat the team that dropped him in a 5-3 Yankees win Wednesday night. Mariano Rivera, pitching for the first time since Aug. 1 because of back spasms, picked up his 27th save in 27 opportunities.
