French, Spanish Election Observers Have Not Got Visas

Posted to the web 4 August 2008 Kigali Election observers from France and one from Spain are not yet to arrive in Rwanda as they have got entry visas from the immigration department in Rwanda, RNA can exclusively reveal. French nationals Mr. Olivier Neola and Mr. Emmanuel Geny, and Spanish national Ms. Maria del Mar Bermudez were supposed to be part of the 20 Long-Term Observer group deployed last week in provinces. Now the team is only 17, according to the Mission Press Officer Mr. Mathias Eick. "They are still working out their entry visas but they should be in the country anytime from now", said Mr. Eick, from Germany. In total, the EU mission is bring into Rwanda some 80 observers.
