BY COLBY BALKENBUSH • cbalkenbush@rgj.com • August 3, 2008 When a teenage heckler yelled "get in the water!" right after Brian Davis' shot from the drop area on Hole 16, the 34-year-old native of England snapped. He uttered an expletive at the boy and looked about ready to chase him down before he saw that two young children and their father had witnessed the incident. Davis quickly apologized to all bystanders and on the next hole gave a signed golf ball to both kids along with the admonition, "I don't want to ever hear you say that word." His sharp initial reaction and the instant turnaround upon seeing children, illustrates both the pressures Davis has been under and a love for young ones that has been forged by fire.
