PROTON CHIEF: Audit team to probe high Perdana maintenance costs

Proton, the national car manufacturer, will send an internal audit team to Terengganu to investigate the alleged high maintenance costs of RM1.07 million involving the state government’s Proton Perdana V6 Executive. Proton Holdings Bhd managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said the internal audit team will visit all authorised Proton service centres in the state that had been doing maintenance for the cars. “We (Proton) will be sending the audit team soon,” he said at a press conference today. He added that if investigations revealed there was corruption involved such as using non-genuine parts or negligence, they would take stern action including suspending the license of the service centre, regardless of whether it was operated by Proton Edar or and EON agent.
