US presidential hopeful Barack Obama says the US needs to strengthen transatlantic ties to sort out global problems. Democratic Party candidate Obama made the comments after talks in London with British prime minister Gordon Brown. On the final leg of his Europe and Middle East tour, Obama met Brown to thrash out their approaches to key common foreign policy issues, particularly the military engagements in Afghanistan and Iraq . The pair strolled cheerfully around the gardens of the premier's Downing Street offices and the parade ground behind to the bemusement of tourists on Saturday.
