Story Published: Jul 25, 2008 at 6:24 PM PDT SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) - The planned merger of three Oregon beer distributors could mean layoffs. Columbia Distributing Co. of Portland, Mt. Hood Beverage Co. of Portland and Gold River Distributing of Medford all sent notices to employees last week, warning they could lose their jobs when the three complete their merger into CoHo Distributing. Lindy Bartell, a spokeswoman for the three companies, said the notices were sent to comply with federal law, and the distributors have yet to determine how many workers will be needed. The merger, which must be approved by the companies' suppliers, is expected to take place in early September.
