Arrests made in emergency plane landing

FRANKFURT, Germany, July 26 (UPI) -- Two British women are facing charges for allegedly forcing an emergency landing in Germany by attempting to open a jetliner's cabin door mid-flight, police say. Police in Frankfurt said the unidentified women were arrested once the XL Airways plane, which was en route from the Greek island of Kos to Britain Wednesday, touched down, The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday. A spokeswoman for the airline said the women are suspected of sneaking alcohol on board the flight and becoming belligerent with airline staff who refused to serve them more liquor. The airplane official alleged the women attempted to open an exit door and that one of them swung a vodka bottle at a flight attendant before they were restrained by security personnel.
