Forget the cell phone cancer scare, now there may be reason to worry about what is on your kitchen countertop. It's not only the food (no Mexican jalapeños the FDA says) it now might be that your granite countertop is radioactive. New York Times writer Kate Murphy has a potentially scary tale that might have some homeowners concerned. According to a report in the Times, a pediatrician that was doing her due diligence and checking everything and she claims that during a routine inspection done on a cottage she was purchasing an inspector found elevated levels of radon, a radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer.
