Energy Bill Rises 'Before Winter'

The boss of one of the UK's biggest energy firms has added to the warnings that customers are likely to see big hikes in their bills in the very near future. Increases coming sooner rather than later Scottish & Southern Chief Executive Ian Marchant says the company has so far held back from passing on price increases. But he has joined rivals like British Gas owner Centrica by admitting that rises are just around the corner. He said: "I can't see it won't happen before winter. We are continuing to resist the pressure to put up prices for domestic customers, but doing so is becoming more difficult by the day."
