Game 103 Open Thread: Cardinals at Mets

The Mets are alone in first place for the first time since April, but if they do not continue to play solid baseball this weekend it might end up being a short stint at the top. Coming off their dramatic series win over the Phillies, the Mets host the slumping St. Louis Cardinals at Shea Stadium, where they have won 9 out of their last 10 games. As if the still bitter sting of the 2006 NLCS wasn’t enough to get the blood boiling for this series, the Mets and Cardinals are also now just 1 game apart in the overall standings, which could come into play down the stretch for wild card positioning or playoff seeding. It’s crazy how things can turn around in a flash.
