The Lowdown The day after a steep selloff, traders were selective in their bargain-hunting. Stocks rose Friday as traders digested a slew of economic data and lower energy prices. The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished up 21 points at 11371. The S&P 500 picked up 5 at 1258. Techs led the market, lifting the Nasdaq. The index picked up 30 to end the week at 2311. Materials, capital goods and energy stocks also showed strength. Financials took another step backward. The housing sector got boost after the June rate of new home sales came in well above economists' estimates. The report came as a relief to traders who sold off equities in a hurry...
