Mesa being sued under Title IX by former employees

Two former Mesa College athletic department employees have filed a Title IX sex discrimination suit against the college after being fired in April 2007. Former women's basketball coach Lorri Sulpizio and former director of basketball operations Cathy Bass are seeking unspecified damages. They also want a court order forcing Mesa to comply with Title IX and cease its alleged discrimination against employees and students based on gender or sexual orientation. The suit states both women were retaliated against because of their sexual orientation and because Sulpizio made complaints about gender inequities she perceived in Mesa's athletic facilities.
