Qantas flight makes emergency stop due to big hole

MANILA, Philippines (AP) - All 350 people on board a Quantas airlines jumbo jet are safe after a harrowing flight. The plane was en route from London to Australia Friday when passengers reported some sort of explosion. They say the oxygen masks dropped from the ceiling and the jet plunged 20,000 feet before making an emergency landing in the Philippines. Airport authorities in Manila found a hole in the fuselage near the right wing said to be about three yards across. The airport operations manager says the ceiling around the area had collapsed and the flooring had given way, exposing some of the cargo. He reports passengers leaving the plane were throwing up.
