Big Ten football coaches will be grilled by the media today, July 24, at the conference's annual kickoff event in Chicago, and I'll go out on a limb and make a few predictions on what to expect. • Ohio State will be picked as the preseason favorite, and Jim Tressel will make like Muhammad Ali and guarantee a record third-straight outright league title. Just kidding about that last part. Tressel, of course, will remind reporters how tough the Big Ten is from top to bottom, conveniently forgetting the recent fortunes of Minnesota, Northwestern and Indiana. • Purdue's Joe Tiller was seething when a committed recruit was pilfered away by Michigan, calling new coach Rich Rodriguez "a guy in a wizard hat selling snake oil." Tressel also gave a Rodriguez a subtle jab, suggesting the newcomer might have broken a gentlemen's agreement... [read full story]
