MEMPHIS, TN - The City of Memphis wants to know who's operating a controversial blog. Its called the "MPD Enforcer." Bloggers regularly criticize the department and its director, Larry Godwin. According to records at the Shelby County Chancery Court, subpoenas have been sent to AOL, Google, and Zimbio, Inc. The city wants the companies to turn over information, some of which include data, documents, internet addresses and billing information associated with the blog operator. The blogs operator says Godwin is trying to shut the blog down and violate his first amendment rights. Adding, the blog is a place where officers can make statements without fear of retribution.
